Google has made a fresh investment of more than $1 billion in an anthropic AI startup, while the company is already close to raising $2 billion, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, bringing its valuation to $60 billion.
Anthropic, which is OpenAI's major competitor, sells its AI model through third-party cloud services, and has an annual revenue of about $875 million.
