Goa cashew is a variety of cashew produced in the state of Goa.
Recently Goa cashew has been recognized by the Geographical Indication Registry as G. I. tag has been provided.
It was brought to Goa by the Portuguese around the 16th century.
Initially, cashew trees were planted for environmental reasons.
With time people discovered the edible value of cashews and they became an essential part of the economy of Goa.
The cashew industry evolved from small factories to large factories and today, it is an important part of Goa's heritage and trade.
It is known for its excellent taste and organic quality.
