  • The Global Teacher of the Year 2023 Award was announced in London, the capital of the United Kingdom.
  • In this award, 2 Indian teachers have been selected for the Global Teacher Award.
  • These teachers are Deep Narayan Nayak, a primary school teacher from West Bengal and Hari Krishna Patcharu, an English teacher from Andhra Pradesh.
  • The award was jointly organized by Varkey Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO and Dubai Cares, a global philanthropic organization of the UAE.
  • In this, one million US dollars is provided as a prize.
  • Teacher Nayak of 'Tilka Manjhi Adivasi Free Primary School' in Jamuria, Asansol was selected for his innovative teaching methods which have transformed the lives of underprivileged children facing learning and social challenges.
  • Hari Krishna is a teacher at ZPHS Ilavaram in Bhattiprolu mandal of Guntur district. They have been selected to work on a mission to overcome language barriers and enrich the lives of their students.
