· Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya released the 3rd State Food Safety Index (SFSI) of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on September 20, 2021 for assessment of food safety in all States/UTs in 2020-21.
· The FSSAI Index measures the performance of the states in providing safe food to the general public as per the Act.
· States and Union Territories have been ranked on five parameters of food safety – Human Resource and Institutional Data, Compliance, Food Testing Facility, Training Capacity Building, and Consumer Empowerment.
