Recently, the chief guest of India's Republic Day (26 January) to be held in the year 2024 was announced.
The chief guest of India's Republic Day will be French President Emmanuel Macron.
India had invited US President Joe Biden on the occasion but he expressed his inability to visit New Delhi in January.
The Indian Prime Minister participated as the chief guest in the Bastille Day Parade of France held in July, 2023.
India's invitation to France also indicates its close ties with the Western European country.
There is a strategic partnership between the two countries in defence, space and nuclear sectors.
For the sixth time, a French leader will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
It is noteworthy that every year, India invites foreign politicians to attend its Republic Day celebrations.
In the year 2023, Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi was the chief guest of India's Republic Day Parade.
