  • The Union government has identified four pilgrim centers for development under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) Scheme in Karnataka.
  • Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru, Sri Madhwa Vana in Udupi district, Papnash temple in Bidar district, and Sri Renuka Yallamma Temple in Saundatti in Belagavi district have been selected under the scheme.
  • The heritage sites of Hampi and Mysuru have already been selected under Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
  • The PRASAD scheme was launched by the Government of India in 2014-2015 under the Ministry of Tourism. The full form of the PRASAD scheme is the ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive’.
  • The PRASAD scheme aims to develop pilgrimage sites in a prioritized, planned, and sustainable manner to provide a complete religious tourism experience.
  • The Swadesh Darshan scheme has been revamped as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 to develop sustainable and responsible tourism destinations.
