  • Former Supreme Court judge Justice Madan B Lokur has been appointed as the president of the United Nations Internal Justice Council. 
  • His appointment will take immediate effect and will be up to November 12, 2028.
  • He was also appointed as a judge of the non-resident panel of the Supreme Court of Fiji in 2019, with Justice Lokur being the first Indian judge to hold a position in the Supreme Court of another country.
