Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin has died at the age of 96.
Jiang, who was China’s president from 1993 to 2003, saw the country through historic changes, including a revival of market-oriented reforms, the return of Hong Kong from British rule in 1997 and its entry into the World Trade Organization in 2001.
Jiang Zemin was the Communist Party general secretary for 13 years.
He oversaw the peaceful handover of Hong Kong in 1997, and China's entry into the World Trade Organization in 2001 which intertwined the country with the global economy.
