Bob Simpson, former captain of the Australian men’s cricket team and a legendary figure in the sport, passed away in Sydney at the age of 89. Simpson, who had a distinguished career between 1957 and 1978, played 62 Test matches, scoring at an average of 46.81 and also contributing as a bowler with 71 wickets. He had initially retired from international cricket in 1968 after an 11-year stint but made a comeback in 1977. His death marks the end of an era in Australian cricket.
