  • For the first time in the last 50 years, the IMF and World Bank meeting has been held in the African continent.
  • In this, the World Bank will discuss giving third seat to Africa on its executive boards.
  • Over these 50 years the continent has been facing a variety of challenges, from conflicts to a series of military coups, from persistent poverty to natural disasters.
  • India was represented in this meeting by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
