E.O. Wilson, a former Harvard University biologist and Pulitzer Prize winner whose research on ants and human behaviour made him one of the world's most famous scientists and spurred him to advocate for action to protect millions of species, has died.
He had reached the age of 92 years.
The professor and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner made a mark with his 1975 book "Sociobiology: The New Synthesis", in which he provided evidence of the link between human behavior and heredity.
In 1996, Time magazine ranked him one of the top 25 most powerful persons in the United States.
