Ex-CBDT chairman PC Mody appointed as new secretary general of Rajya Sabha

• PC Mody has been named the new secretary-general of the Rajya Sabha, just weeks before the start of the Winter Session of Parliament, which is scheduled to begin on November 29.
• He will succeed PPK Ramacharyulu.
• PC Mody is the first officer from the Indian Revenue Services (IRS) to hold the position of Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha, which is normally held by a Senior IAS Officer.
• PPK Ramacharyulu was appointed advisor to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for one year.
