The Union Cabinet has announced to ban electric detonators from April 1, 2025.
After this ban, manufacturing, trade and storage of electric detonators will be banned.
This ban has been imposed in view of security concerns and public safety.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has issued a notification in this regard.
Electric detonators are devices used to initiate or trigger explosives for a variety of applications including mining, construction, excavation, and demolition.
These are known as primary explosives.
These trigger the main explosives.
