The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill has been passed by Parliament with the Rajya Sabha to link electoral roll with Aadhar.
The law has been passed in the Upper House (Rajya Sabha), despite the opposition's walkout. On December 20, 2021, the bill was passed by the Lok Sabha.
This bill will now be delivered to the President, and if he signs it, it will become law.
The Bill's major goal is to make it possible to integrate electoral roll data to the AADHAAR ecosystem.
This will address the problem of the same person being enrolled in various electoral rolls in different places.
