  • Senior IAS officer Durga Shankar Mishra will be the new Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Mishra is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1984 batch. The appointment of his replacement as Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh was approved by the Central Government two days before his retirement.
  • Mr. Mishra also serves as Chairman of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and President of the IAS Association.
  • Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, an IAS officer from the 1985 batch, is currently the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The Chief Secretary is a state's top executive officer who serves as the state government's primary advisor on all administrative matters.
