  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the vertical launch short-range surface-to-air missile (VL-SRSAM) from integrated test range, Chandipur, Odisha.
  • The launch was carried out from a vertical launcher at a very low altitude against an electronic target.
  • This new system can engage targets at a distance of about 15 kilometres.
  • The first trial was held on February 22, 2021, as a confirmatory trial to demonstrate the configurations and integrated operation's consistent performance.
