An X-Band Doppler Weather Radar will be installed in Lahaul-Spiti district by December 2025, which will provide accurate forecasts and information about natural disasters to the Meteorological Department. Rs 13.87 crore has been spent on this project.
With the help of radar, accurate information related to weather and disasters in the high-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh will be obtained, which will help in forecasting and effective control of disasters. This will enable quick measures in reducing the loss of life and property during events like heavy rains and snowfall.
