  • The Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India is developing a National Legal Metrology Portal (eMAP) to integrate State Legal Metrology Departments and their portals into an integrated national system.
  • The objective of this initiative is to simplify the processes for issuance of licenses, verification and management of enforcement and compliance.
  • Having a centralized database will eliminate the need for eMAP stakeholders to register on multiple state portals, thereby facilitating ease of doing business and also promoting transparency in business regulations.
