CPCB data shows that Delhi-NCR and Mumbai recorded the highest ground-level ozone pollution in 2023–24. In summer 2024, 49 of 57 Delhi-NCR monitoring stations exceeded the one-hour limit of 180 µg/m³. Ozone, formed from vehicle and industrial emissions in sunlight, can cause respiratory problems. Experts emphasize controlling emissions to reduce this growing health and environmental risk.
