On December 14, 2024, Cyclone 'Chidó' struck the French island of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean region, causing widespread devastation in the area.
The cyclone brought a storm with winds reaching 200 kilometers per hour (124 miles per hour) to the majority of the poor residents in the French part of the island.
'Chidó' also tore through the southwestern Indian Ocean, affecting nearby islands of Comoros and Madagascar.
