Recently, CSIR-AMPRI inaugurated its indigenously designed SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging) system at the India Meteorological Department, New Delhi. The system will enhance weather forecasting, climate studies and disaster risk reduction. An MoU between CSIR-AMPRI and IMD was signed to share SODAR data for research and forecasting. SODAR uses acoustic remote sensing to monitor wind, turbulence, and temperature, boosting India’s indigenous weather technology and disaster preparedness.
International Day of Older Persons 2025 was observed on 1 October with the theme “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action.”
