  • China has successfully launched a third Gaofen-11 band satellite for remote sensing and Earth observation.
  • The launch took place from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center's launch pad SLS-2 (South Launch Site-2) (JSLC).
  • The Gaofen-3 satellites are based on the CS-L3000B bus, which is designed to last up to eight years.
  • It has a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and a data transmission system, as well as Control Moment Gyros (CMGs) for orientation in space.
  • This satellite is part of the Chinese High-resolution Earth Observation System (CHEOS) programme, which was proposed in 2006 and launched in 2010 with the goal of improving and updating China's Earth observation system.
