  • China is launching the "Thousand Sails" satellite constellation to compete with SpaceX's Starlink, aiming to establish a global low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite Internet network.
  • The first 18 satellites of the "Thousand Sails" constellation were successfully deployed, with plans to launch 648 satellites by next year and 15,000 by the end of the decade.
  • The "Thousand Sails" project, also known as the G60 Constellation, was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi province using a Long March 6A carrier rocket.
