China is launching the "Thousand Sails" satellite constellation to compete with SpaceX's Starlink, aiming to establish a global low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite Internet network.
The first 18 satellites of the "Thousand Sails" constellation were successfully deployed, with plans to launch 648 satellites by next year and 15,000 by the end of the decade.
The "Thousand Sails" project, also known as the G60 Constellation, was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in Shanxi province using a Long March 6A carrier rocket.
