  • Shivaji Jayanti 2023 marks Shivaji Maharaj’s 393rd birth anniversary.
  • This day is an official holiday across Maharashtra. Many people will also celebrate it according to the Hindu Calendar on 10th March 2023.
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji, is one of the most courageous rulers of India, he stood up against the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb, and founded the Maratha Kingdom. 
  • He got the title of Chhatrapati in 1674. Chhatrapati means emperor.
  • He is thus remembered for his fearlessness each year on his birthday. Every year on the 19th of February, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti is celebrated with much enthusiasm.
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti was first celebrated in 1895 in Pune. Lokmanya Tilak started this tradition
