The Centre on Tuesday raised the age limit of ombudsman of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) to 70 years from the existing 65 years.
The role of the Ombudsman is to receive, consider and facilitate the resolution of complaints or grievances which fall under the purview of PFRDA regulations.
As per the PFRDA (Redressal of Subscriber Grievance) Regulations 2015, the upper age limit was 65 years.
The gazette notification dated March 27 says that the PFRDA has amended that rule by changing the upper age limit for Ombudsman to 70 years.
An individual appointed as Ombudsman usually holds office for three years and is eligible for reappointment for another two years.
