  • The Union government cleared the appointment of Praveen Sharma, a 2005 batch officer from Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE) as director in the National Health Authority (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
  • The appointment of Sharma was cleared after the ministry of defence recommended the name of Sharma for central deputation.
  • He has been appointed for a period of five years.
  • The National Health Authority implements India's public health insurance scheme called "Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)".

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission: 

  1. Started by PM Narendra Modi on 27 September 2021.
  2. The project has been implemented in pilot phase in six states and union territories.
  3. It connects digital health solutions of hospitals across the country.
