  • The Union government has extended the tenure of senior advocate KK Venugopal as the Attorney General (AG) for three more months.
  • Venugopal’s tenure was to end on June 30.
  • Venugopal, 91, was appointed by the President as Attorney General for India in July 2017 for a three-year term. His term was subsequently extended twice for a year each.
  • The 15th person to serve as Attorney General for India, he had succeeded Mukul Rohatgi, who was the Attorney General from June 2014 to June 2017.
