Daily Current Affairs / CDSCO Launches Digital Monitoring System for Drug Safety
Category : Science and Tech Published on: October 24 2025
India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has introduced a Digital Monitoring System through its Online National Drug Licensing System (ONDLS) to track high-risk pharmaceutical solvents like glycerin and propylene glycol, often used in cough syrups. The move follows recent diethylene glycol contamination incidents that caused child fatalities. The ONDLS enables real-time tracking of solvent production, testing, and supply chains, ensuring transparency and safety. All manufacturers must register and log data online, while regulators will verify batches before release.
