  • After 164 years, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has opened its first museum at Chadwick House in Shimla. CAG GC Murmu inaugurated the museum, highlighting its historical and educational significance.
  • Chadwick House is notable for being the place where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during the 1946 Cabinet Mission meeting, aimed at transferring political power from the British to Indian leadership.
  • Post-independence, it housed the first training school for Indian Audit and Accounts Service probationers in 1950.
  • The museum showcases the evolution and milestones of India's federal audit heritage. Among the exhibits is Chanakya writing the Arthashastra, considered the first documented principles of accounting.
