The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved four new railway multitracking projects aimed at enhancing rail capacity across 13 districts in six states — Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. These projects will add approximately 574 kilometers to the current railway network. The total estimated investment for these projects is ₹11,169 crore, and their completion is targeted by the fiscal year 2028–29, according to an Indian Railways spokesperson.
