  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the crucial Ken Betwa River Link Scheme of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
  • The total cost of the Ken-Betwa link project has been estimated to be Rs.44, 605 crores at 2020-21 price levels.
  • Water will be transferred from the Ken to the Betwa Rivers as part of the Ken-Betwa link project, which will include the construction of the Daudhan Dam and a canal that connects the two rivers.
  • The project will be extremely beneficial to the water-stressed Bundelkhand region, which spans MP and UP.
  • This project will benefit the Madhya Pradesh districts of Panna, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Datia, Vidisha, Shivpuri, and Raisen, as well as the Uttar Pradesh districts of Banda, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur.
