  • The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration & Tracking (IVFRT) Scheme for five years from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031. Originally launched in 2010, the scheme aims to integrate and modernise India’s immigration, visa issuance, and foreign registration processes through technology.
  • The renewed scheme will focus on emerging technology innovations, upgrading core infrastructure at immigration posts and FRROs, and optimising service delivery with mobile-based services and self-service kiosks. It will create a secure, seamless, and efficient ecosystem in line with the recently enacted Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, enhancing overall border management and user experience.
