  • The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of Shinku La Tunnel to provide all-weather connectivity in Ladakh.
  • The construction work of this 4.1 kilometer tunnel will be completed by December 2025.
  • The total expenditure on this project will be 1,681 crore rupees.
  • Shinkun La tunnel is made on the Nimu-Padam-Darcha marg, it will help connect the Ladakh area, especially Zanskar Valley, with the entire country.
  • The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will construct the world's highest tunnel at 16,580 feet.
