Challa Sreenivasulu Setty (CS Setty) took over as the 27th Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI) on August 28, 2024, succeeding Dinesh Khara, who retired after reaching the maximum age limit of 63.
John Matthai was the first chairman of SBI, appointed in 1955 following the nationalization and renaming of the Imperial Bank of India under the State Bank of India Act 1955.
