  • According to the caste census released in October, 2023, the backward class population in Bihar is about 27%.
  • The extremely backward class population is about 36%.
  • The total population of backward class is about 63%.
  • Scheduled Caste population is about 19% and Scheduled Tribe population is about 1.50%.
  • The population of unreserved category is approximately 15.50%.
  • Among the religiously based population, Hindus constitute about 82% and Muslims 17.5%.
  • Among the caste based population, Yadavs have the highest population at 14.26%.
  • After these, Ravidas is 5.2% and Maurya/Kushwaha is 4.2%.
  • In Bihar, Brahmins are 3.65%, Rajputs are 3.45%, Musahars are 3.08%.
