In a significant step to support women ahead of the assembly elections, the Bihar Cabinet has approved the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana’. Under this scheme, one woman from each household will get ₹10,000 to start a business of her choice. The Rural Development Department, with help from the Urban Development and Housing Department, will run the scheme. After a six-month review, selected women could receive up to ₹2 lakh in extra support to expand their businesses.
