President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Bhartruhari Mahtab, seven-term MP from Cuttack, as the pro-tem Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha.
The senior most member of parliament is appointed as the Protem Speaker to perform the duties of the Speaker until a regular Speaker is elected. Bhartruhari Mahtab will fulfill this role for the 18th Lok Sabha.
