Yamini Krishnamurthy, an esteemed Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer, passed away at 84.
Born on December 20, 1940, in Andhra Pradesh, she began her dance training at Kalakshetra School of Dance in Chennai and learned from legendary teachers like Rukmini Devi Arundale.
Ms. Krishnamurthy was awarded the Padma Shri in 1968, Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in 2016. He was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1977.
