  • Yamini Krishnamurthy, an esteemed Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer, passed away at 84. 
  • Born on December 20, 1940, in Andhra Pradesh, she began her dance training at Kalakshetra School of Dance in Chennai and learned from legendary teachers like Rukmini Devi Arundale. 
  • Ms. Krishnamurthy was awarded the Padma Shri in 1968, Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in 2016. He was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1977.
