The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has implemented the Bharat Forecast System (BFS) to improve accuracy in rainfall alerts up to the panchayat level. Developed by IITM, BFS enhances short- and medium-term forecasts through advanced models and high-powered computing, according to Earth Sciences Secretary M. Ravichandran.
