  • Recently the Central Government has started the Shrestha Scheme.
  • Shrestha Yojana has been launched to create an environment for the socio-economic upliftment and overall development of Scheduled Caste students while securing their future opportunities.
  • The primary objective of Shrestha is to expand the reach of government development initiatives and advance the advancement of Scheduled Caste students in the field of education.
  • Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is the nodal ministry for this scheme.
  • Students selected for this scheme will be given admission in class 9 and class 11.
  • To avail the benefit of this scheme, the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh.
  • Every year 3 thousand Scheduled Caste children will be selected for this scheme.
