Bajram Begaj, a retired military officer and politician, took oath at a swearing-in ceremony in Parliament here as the 9th President of Albania.
Begaj was elected President on June 4.
He was a major general and held the post of the chief of general staff of the Albanian Armed Forces.
Earlier this month Albania, a NATO member since 2009, launched accession talks with the European Union.
