  • B Gopal, alias Bejawada Gopal, a well-known Telugu filmmaker, has been chosen for the fourth Satyajit Ray Award for his overall contribution to Indian cinema.
  • The Satyajit Ray Film Society Kerala, a state-based organisation, established the award, which includes a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a memento, and a plaque.
  • The first recipients of this honour were eminent filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient Adoor Gopalakrishnan, actress Madhabi Mukherjee, and producer Mohan Ji.
