The United Nations General Assembly, through resolution A/RES/73/296, has designated August 22 as the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief. The observance highlights the need to provide justice, support, and assistance to victims and their families in line with applicable laws. The day also underscores the interconnected nature of rights such as freedom of religion or belief, freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association, as enshrined in Articles 18, 19, and 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
