  • The Election Commission of India announced the dates of assembly elections in 5 states on 9 October.
  • These 5 states are – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram.
  • Elections will be held in Madhya Pradesh in only one phase on November 17.
  • Elections will be held in Chhattisgarh in two phases on 7th and 17th November.
  • Elections will be held in Rajasthan on 23 November.
  • Elections will be held in Telangana on 30 November and in Mizoram on 7 November.
  • There are 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh.
  • There are 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan.
  • There are 90 assembly seats in Chhattisgarh.
  • The number of assembly seats in Telangana is 119 and Mizoram is 40.
  • The Model Code of Conduct comes into force with the announcement of election dates by the Election Commission of India.
