  • A Class IV student from Guwahati, Ayesha Karim, won the Veergatha 5.0 Super 100 title for artwork honouring the bravery of Sandeep Unnikrishnan during the 2008 Mumbai attacks. A student of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti School, she is the only participant from Assam in five years to receive the distinction.
  • The competition is organised by the Ministry of Defence to inspire students to learn about gallantry heroes. As part of the recognition, she attended the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path. Major Unnikrishnan was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry honour. Her achievement highlights Assam’s growing presence in national educational initiatives.
