The Assam government launched the CM-FLIGHT program to train youth in Japanese and prepare 50,000 candidates for jobs in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa by 2030. The first batch of 180 students began training in Guwahati, covering language, culture, and workplace skills in sectors like construction, nursing care, food services, and IT. The Rs 1.8 lakh course is largely subsidized, and successful candidates can earn up to Rs 2 lakh/month, reflecting growing Indo-Japan cooperation and globalizing Assam’s workforce.
