Assam's inaugural Witness Protection Scheme, introduced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and aligned with Section 398 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, allows witnesses to apply for protection through a prescribed form before a competent authority.
