Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the ASMITA weightlifting league at Modinagar’s Warriors Academy, initiating a two-day tournament for 42 young girls across eight weight categories. The initiative is part of a broader mission to organize 852 league events in 15 disciplines this fiscal year, targeting participation from around 70,000 women athletes — a notable rise from last year’s 550 events and 53,000 participants. Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu and her coach Vijay Sharma graced the event.
