Arun Kumar Singh has received a rare one-year extension as ONGC chairman, ensuring his tenure continues until December 6, 2026. Appointed in 2022 just before turning 60, Singh is credited with stabilising operations and reversing ONGC’s long decline in crude and gas output. Under his leadership, ONGC partnered with BP to revive the Mumbai High fields and began production from the KG-DWN-98/2 project. The government has formed a search-cum-selection panel to appoint a regular chairman, but leadership continuity remains a priority amid the company’s ongoing turnaround.
