  • The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad to collaborate on research and training, with the aim of developing novel medical devices and addressing health issues specific to soldiers in varied terrains. 
  • The MoU, signed by Lt Gen Daljit Singh and Prof B S Murty, will leverage IIT Hyderabad's expertise in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, and Bioinformatics to tackle diverse medical challenges faced by the Armed Forces.
  • Key areas of collaboration under the MoU include innovations in drone-based patient transport, telemedicine, the application of Artificial Intelligence in the medical field, and advancements in nanotechnology. 
  • The partnership also encompasses student exchange programs, short-term courses for undergraduates, and faculty exchange initiatives, reflecting AFMS’s commitment to enhancing research and training to improve the quality of life for soldiers and their families.
